The 8th comes to London

May 14, 2021

In politics, as in life, patience is certainly a virtue. After a protracted wait, Irish Film London is finally very pleased to bring vital Irish social-activist documentary The 8th to UK audiences, as part of a partnership with distributors Together Films.

From May 17th, audiences will be able to use our exclusive screening link to rent the film online, a week ahead of the film’s UK theatrical release. This special event is the result of our collaboration with the films distributors, which goes all the way back to our In Conversation event in January of 2021, when Head of Irish Film London Gerry Maguire discussed the film with activists Ailbhe Smyth and Andrea Horan, and co-director Lucy Kennedy. Following on from this, Irish Film London has secured the chance to present The 8th to our audiences through a partnership opportunity which benefits all parties.

By clicking on our exclusive link, shown below, audiences will be supporting one of the most important Irish documentaries of recent years, but also suporting the work of Irish Film London.

What’s more, the team behind The 8th will be on hand again on May 18th for a special conversation with Annie MacManus of BBC Radio fame for a special event hosted by Birds Eye View Reclaim The Frame. Click on the Crowdcast below to register for this event and join the conversation as it happens, and join us in celebrating The 8th by watching it together with us.

Finally, look out for a special edition of the Irish Film London podcast on May 25th, when we’ll be releasing that interview Gerry held with The 8th filmmakers to celebrate its release.

Join us in supporting new Irish film by watching The 8th through this exclusive opportunity from Irish Film London.
