35mm double bill: Tigerland + Phone Booth

  • Cinema Museum 2 Renfrew Road London, England, SE11 4TH United Kingdom (map)

The Celluloid Sorceress brings her look at the career of
Joel Schumacher back to the Cinema Museum with a thrilling 35mm double feature of arguably his finest films.

Irish Film London is delighted to support this event, as part of our celebration of Colin Farrell this month, as we announce his new patronage.

Tigerland (2000)

A sly mix of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest (1975), Southern Comfort (1981)
and Platoon (1986), Tigerland received only a limited initial release despite excellent word-of-mouth which earned it a following on DVD. Among the most offbeat movies about the Vietnam war, it is also one of the very best, driven by a terrific script, superb direction and photography and an exciting ensemble cast. This is a fantastic and very
rare opportunity to see it on 35mm alongside its natural companion piece:

Phone Booth (2002)

Showcasing Schumacher’s command of camera and editing, Phone Booth also
wryly capitalises on the burgeoning trend for stories where “events occur in real time”, with the unique voice of Kiefer Sutherland, star of hit TV show 24 (2001), reunited with Schumacher for the second time since blockbuster Flatliners (1990). They also worked together on A Time to Kill (1996).

Introduced by Rebecca Nicole Williams, with a 10-minute selection of vintage 35mm Joel Schumacher trailers before each feature.

Doors open at 14.00, for a 15.00 start.

15.00 – Tigerland
17.00 – Intermission
17.30 – Phone Booth
19.15 – Finish
