Irish Film Festival London are proud to include The Story of Looking in the 2021 festival programme.

A name synonymous with documentary filmmaking, Mark Cousins’ work has brought audiences on journeys across the world, be that to Belfast, Albania or Sardinia, and provided us with detailed histories of the art of film through his series The Story of Film: An Odyssey, and his feature works A Story of Children and Film and Women Make Film.

Mark’s latest work is a highly personal account of his lockdown journey towards receiving surgery to restore his own vision, which travels through the filmmaker’s memories, emotions and influences to present an analytical meditation on just what it is to look; to see; to experience the world through our eyes, and how important it is to understanding our visually saturated world, as well as its personal importance to the life experience of this artist.
