Damien Dempsey comes to Kilburn for an IFL exclusive screening of Love Yourself Today
Irish Film London are proud to host Irish legend Damien Dempsey and director Ross Killeen at production company Motherland, for a special screening of the brilliant, uplifting documentary Love Yourself Today.
Part documentary, part concert film, Love Yourself Today is an emotive celebration of modern spirituality and the power of music to heal.
Damo’s Christmas gigs at Dublin’s legendary Vicar Street are something of an annual pilgramage for his fans, some of whom - Nadia, Packy and Jonathan - become the subjects of this insightful documentary, shot across a number of those gigs in December 2019 as well as in the homes and neighbourhoods of both the fans and Damo himself. The result is a film which explores tough subjects like addiction, grief and loss…but through a lens of love and empathy, with astounding effect.
“THROUGH HIS MUSIC, THE DUBLIN FOLK SINGER LENDS HIS DISTINCT AUTHORIAL VOICE TO SOCIAL ISSUES, TO LOSS, TO LOVE, AND PLAYS WITH A DEEP SINCERITY THAT OFTEN HAS ATTENDEES OPENLY WEEPING AS THEY BELT OUT THOSE LYRICS.”
Gemma Creagh, Film Ireland
Taking place on Feb 15th at the Kiln Cinema in Kilburn, Irish Film London are very proud to be joined by both director Ross Killeen and Damien Dempsey himself.
